If you watch a lot of vampire shows and movies then you have a pretty good idea of the many types of vampires used in entertainment:
Traditional Vampires
This is Boris from Transylvania, one we all know and know well. Goes up in flames in sunlight, drinks lots of blood, no reflection in mirrors, has a holy objects phobia. This is the classic vampire that sleeps in a coffin and can transform into mist and such.
Daywalker Vampires
This vampire is like the one above except it can walk in the sunlight. We see this kind of vampire more and more often, especially in teen entertainment - The Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and House of Night.
Old, Noble Vampires
The ancient and usually wise vampire that everyone respects and fears. Sometimes he is the ruthless leader that stays behind the scene. You've seen these older vamps in pretty much all movies and books. Anne Rice's novels had many of them, like wise Marius. In Underworld you had Viktor, the old, admired and feared leader. This vampire is a knowledgeable gentleman or lady who is often prim and proper. Picture a vampire scene where a sophisticated vampire walks up to a lovely woman, politely bows and kisses her hand gently.
The Vampire Look
Get the vampire look with pale foundation, slightly dark rimmed eyes, vampire fangs, and contacts, if you are that committed. Dress can be from the old Boris Karloff style caped vampire, to the hipsters you see on the current vampire shows. Vampires tend to dress in severe or period clothing. A little fake blood can be used to tart up those lips!
